Colombo, Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
Major General U.K.D.D.P. Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc of the Gajaba Regiment assumed duties as the 70th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, the second most senior appointment in the Army, at the Army Headquarters on 05 August 2026.
Amidst religious observances and blessings, the Senior Officer symbolically assumed duties by signing an official document at the Chief of Staff's Office.
Prior to this appointment, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army.
Principal Staff Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present on the occasion to extend their best wishes to the newly appointed Chief of Staff.
