Colombo, Sri Lanka, May 10 -- Sri Lanka Army issued the following news release:
Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, attended the ceremonial opening of the Rice Dansala organized at the sacred Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya on 12 May 2025.
The event, organized by the Youth Organization of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya in collaboration with Army troops, was held in celebration of the Vesak Festival.
Upon arrival, the Chief of Staff took part in religious observances conducted by Ven. Prof. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkhitha Thera, the Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya. He later joined senior officers and organizers in distributing cooked meals to the devotees gathered at the temple premises.
The Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (West), senior officers, members of the organizing committee, and a large number of devotees also participated in the Dansala and Vesak celebrations.
