Colombo, Sri Lanka, Oct. 2 -- Sri Lanka Air Force issued the following news release:

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the Commander's Inspection at Sri Lanka Air Force Station Weerawila today (02 October 2026). Upon his arrival, the Commander was warmly received by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Nirup Wanasinghe.

The Commander reviewed the Commander's Inspection Parade, commanded by the Commanding Officer. During the parade, Certificates of Commendation were awarded to the following personnel in recognition of their exceptional contributions to SLAF Station Weerawila.

Warrant Officer HGS Kumara - Water Works Technician Specialist (I)

Flight Sergeant Hemasiri SKPM - Category Junior Supervisor (I)

Corporal Sanjeewa Kumara WD - Operations Guard (III)

Civilian Employee PM Kamalsiri - Work Aide (I)

During the inspection, the Commander visited key facilities and operational areas of the Station, including the Station Headquarters, No. 41 Regiment Wing, No. 63 Intelligence Wing, No. 03 Air Defence Radar Squadron, Sports Section, Main Guard Room, Medical Inspection Room, Airmen and Airwomen Billets, Welfare Shop Complex, Motor Transport Section, Eagle's Cafe, Social Clubs and the VVIP Lounge.

Subsequently, the Commander addressed the Officers, Other Ranks and Civilian Personnel of the Station, expressing his sincere appreciation to the Commanding Officer and his team for their unwavering dedication, commitment and hard work in maintaining the operational readiness and high standards of the Station.
