The High Commission of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Sri Lanka hosted a reception to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo yesterday. (26 March)
Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) attended the event as a special guest.
Hon. Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, the Minister for Health and Mass Media, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, H.E. Andalib Elias, along with the Defence Advisor, Commodore M Moniruzzaman welcomed the distinguished guests at the venue. In his address, the High Commissioner emphasized the enduring bilateral partnership between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, reflecting on the deep-rooted historical ties and the evolution of modern diplomatic cooperation.
Former Presidents, Prime Ministers, Parliamentarians, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Tri-Forces Commanders, senior High Commission officials, senior military officers, and a number of distinguished invitees were present at the occasion.
