Colombo, Sri Lanka, June 4 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) attended a reception hosted onboard Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Taimur as a special guest last evening (03 June).
PNS Taimur, together with PNS Aslat and the submarine PNS/M Hangor, arrived at the Port of Colombo on 01 June on a goodwill visit to Sri Lanka. The visiting naval units also called at the port for replenishment purposes.
Hon. (Dr.) Jagath Wickramaratne, Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The distinguished invitees were welcomed by the High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, Major General Nayyar Naseer, HI (M), (Retd), and the Commanding Officer of PNS Taimur, Captain Niamat Saeed Khan.
The reception was attended by the Commander of the Navy, senior Tri-Forces officers, officials of the Ministry of Defence, members of the diplomatic corps and officers and sailors of the visiting ship.
