Colombo, Sri Lanka, June 3 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:

The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), accompanied by the President of the MOD Seva Vanitha Unit, Dr. (Mrs) Ruvini Rasika Perera graced the Sri Lanka Air Force Colours Night 2024-2025 as the Chief Guest at the Eagle's Lakeside Banquet and Convention Hall, Attidiya, on 02 June.

They were received by the Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe on their arrival at the venue. The biennial event, organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force, recognized and celebrated the outstanding achievements of Air Force sportsmen and women across 33 sporting disciplines, with Colours and special awards presented to athletes and teams who excelled during the review period.

Addressing the gathering, the Defence Secretary commended the dedication, discipline and perseverance demonstrated by the award recipients, emphasizing that sporting excellence contributes significantly to developing leadership, teamwork and resilience among service personnel. He also praised the Air Force's continued commitment to fostering sports as an integral part of military professionalism and national representation.

The Deputy Chief of Staff of Air Force, Senior Officers, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, special invitees and family members of the award-winners were present at the event.
