The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), chaired a Public Day program held at Hotel Panorama in Kalutara on Sunday (23 Aug). The initiative served as an open forum, offering members of the veteran community and the wider public the opportunity to directly raise grievances, submit requests, and seek clarifications from the Deputy Minister on matters of concern.
Throughout the program, the Deputy Minister attentively reviewed the submissions presented by attendees and issued on the spot directives to relevant officials, ensuring that matters falling within the purview of the Ministry of Defence are addressed with due diligence and expeditious action.
This Public Day initiative underscores the Ministry's unwavering commitment to fostering transparent and accessible governance. It reaffirms the Ministry's dedication to maintaining robust engagement with the veteran community, their families, and the general public, while ensuring that their concerns are addressed through responsive, structured, and citizen centric mechanisms.
Senior officials from the Office of the Deputy Minister were also in attendance, providing technical and administrative support throughout the session.
