Colombo, Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
A contingent of Indian tri forces personnel arrived in Sri Lanka on 08 October to participate in the India - Sri Lanka Tri Forces Cultural Tour 2026, organised to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the Tri-Services of India and Sri Lanka.
The 120-member Indian tri forces contingent, comprising of officers and other ranks, arrived at the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport and is scheduled to remain in Sri Lanka from 08 to 11 October 2026. Meanwhile, a 120-member contingent representing the Sri Lanka Tri-Services departed for India on 08 October to reciprocate the visit and participate in a cultural tour.
The cultural exchange gives personnel from both countries' tri forces an opportunity to share experiences, cultural values, and knowledge. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to further strengthening the bonds of friendship, mutual understanding and defence cooperation between the two countries.
Such programmes play a vital role in fostering closer and more cordial relations between the Indian and Sri Lankan Tri - Services while further reinforcing the longstanding historical and cultural ties between the peoples of the two nations.
