In a proactive effort to strengthen the nation's cybersecurity, and under the direction of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the Chief of National Intelligence, the Defence Cyber Command conducted its third Cybersecurity Awareness Programme on 19 February 2026 for the staff of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, including national-level Women's and Child Unit officers from the Kalutara and Colombo Districts.
The event was held at the auditorium of Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla, and was organised in strategic alignment with the Clean Sri Lanka national initiative. This collaboration underscored the importance of maintaining a secure and resilient digital environment as a vital component of national development and digital integrity.
The primary objective of the programme was to equip public sector officials with the knowledge and skills required to operate safely in an increasingly complex digital landscape. The comprehensive curriculum covered the current cybersecurity threat landscape, highlighting emerging digital risks, as well as digital hygiene and best practices for safeguarding information. In addition, the programme addressed secure e-governance infrastructure and concluded with practical demonstrations featuring real-world cyber-threat scenarios and effective mitigation strategies.
The programme was conducted by a team of technical experts under the leadership of the Director of the Defence Cyber Command. Demonstrating strong institutional support, the guidance of the Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs was represented by senior leadership, including the Director (Planning)/ Director of General Duty Covering, and other high-ranking officials. This engagement reflects a unified government commitment to protecting national digital assets and ensuring the security and resilience of information systems across all ministries.
