The National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (NAHTTF) convened a stakeholder meeting today (02 October) at the Ministry of Defence premises, under the chairmanship of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Chairman of the Task Force, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd).
The meeting reviewed ongoing measures to prevent and combat human trafficking, progress under the National Strategic Action Plan 2026-2030 to Combat Human Trafficking (NSAP), and activities conducted to mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
The newly appointed focal point from the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka was also welcomed, with discussions highlighting the role of financial intelligence in addressing human trafficking.
Discussions further covered the establishment of District Anti-Trafficking Forums, engagements with international partners and preparations for the annual evaluation of NSAP activities scheduled for November.
Representatives of member institutions shared updates and recommendations to strengthen prevention, victim protection, public awareness and coordinated action against human trafficking.
