Colombo, Sri Lanka, June 25 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, paid farewell calls on the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), and the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), on separate occasions on 25 June.

The Deputy Minister of Defence expressed his appreciation for the Navy Commander's distinguished service and leadership, acknowledging his commitment to enhancing the operational readiness and professionalism of the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Defence Secretary also commended Vice Admiral Banagoda for his dedicated service to the nation and his exemplary leadership. He expressed his appreciation for the significant contributions made towards strengthening maritime security and advancing the Navy's operational capabilities.

Both the Deputy Minister and the Defence Secretary extended their best wishes to Vice Admiral Banagoda in his future endeavours and thanked him for his invaluable service to the country as the 26th Commander of the Navy.
