Colombo, Sri Lanka, Sept. 22 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
The newly appointed Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Sri Lanka, H.E. Wei Huaziang, paid a courtesy call on the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), at the Ministry of Defence today (22 September).
During the cordial meeting, the Defence Secretary and the Chinese Ambassador exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, with particular focus on further strengthening the longstanding relations and defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and China.
The Defence Secretary also expressed deep appreciation for China's continued support and cooperation with Sri Lanka.
Defence Attache of the Chinese Embassy in Colombo Senior Colonel Fu Xiao was also present at the occasion.
