The No.01 Supply and Maintenance Depot SLAF Base Katunayake marked its 75th Anniversary yesterday (04 September 2026), commemorating Seventy-Five years of dedicated service and contributions towards the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The anniversary celebrations commenced with the customary working parade which was followed by an address by the Commanding Officer; Group Captain RML Randeniya. He extended his appreciation to all serving personnel for continued dedication, commitment and contribution towards maintaining the high standards and reputation of the Depot. He also paid tribute to all personnel of the Depot whose dedicated service has contributed to success throughout its distinguished history. A tree planting program was conducted at the Depot premises to commemorate this significant milestone and continued growth of No 01 Supply and Maintenance Depot. In view of strengthening the spirit of social responsibility, a donation of sanitary items, dry ration and assorted refreshments was made to the residents of Isabella Elders' Home, Makewita, Ja Ela.
The celebrations continued with a friendly volleyball session with the participation of all ranks and civilian staff. The event was further enhanced with the presence of the Director General Logistics, Air Vice Marshal Gladwin Atapattu.The 75th Anniversary celebrations served as a fitting tribute to the proud legacy of No 01 Supply and Maintenance Depot, providing an opportunity for its present members to reflect on the achievements of the past and reaffirm their commitment towards carrying forward the proud traditions and responsibilities of the Depot, in the years ahead.
