H.E. Akio Isomata. the Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, met with the Hon. Minister of Environment, Dr. Dammika Patabendi, and Deputy Minister of Environment, Mr. Anton Jayakody, at the Ministry of Environment this afternoon (7th).

Discussions at the meeting emphasized Sri Lanka's overall environmental policies, the progress of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), and mutual cooperation for the implementation of environmental projects funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Special attention was given to the solar power projects in Kaluthara, Matara and Chilaw, which are slated forJCM funding, and the Biomass Project planned for implementation under the Paris Agreement.

Furthermore, the meeting also covered future efforts to secure Sri Lanka's support for Japan's candidacy at the IUCN (The IUCN World Conservation Congress), which will be held in Abu Dhabi.

Attendees at the meeting included Mr. Rohitha Uduwawala, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Kenji Ohashi, Head of Economic Development Corporation, and Ms. Sachi Tanaka, Officer in charge of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM).
