Colombo, Sri Lanka, Nov. 5 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
The outgoing Australian Defence Attache, Colonel Amanda Johnston, and the newly appointed Defence Attache, Captain Ben Fennell, called on Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) at the Parliament Complex on 4th November.
The meeting provided an opportunity to formally introduce the incoming Defence Attache and mark the conclusion of Colonel Johnston's tenure in Sri Lanka.
During the discussion, the Deputy Minister appreciated Colonel Johnston's contribution towards strengthening defence cooperation between Australia and Sri Lanka and extended his best wishes for her future endeavours.
The Deputy Minister welcomed Captain Fennell on his appointment and expressed confidence that bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Australia would continue to strengthen. He also expressed interest in exploring avenues for Australian assistance and cooperation in the field of hydrography, as well as opportunities to further promote sports diplomacy.
