Colombo, Sri Lanka, Oct. 7 -- Sri Lanka Air Force issued the following news release:
In the lead-up to the upcoming Remembrance Day commemorations, the Chairman of the Poppy Committee of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen's Association (SLESA), Major General Mahinda Mudalige (Retd), officially pinned a poppy flower on the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, during a ceremony held at Air Force Headquarters on 07 October 2026.
The annual Poppy Campaign serves as a solemn tribute to honour the fallen heroes and veterans of the Armed Forces who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Proceeds from the sale of poppy flowers are dedicated to the welfare, healthcare and financial assistance of retired, wounded and disabled war heroes and their families.
The occasion was attended by the President of the Sri Lanka Air Force Association (SLAFA), Air Vice Marshal Hemantha Soysa (Retd), along with executive members of the Poppy Committee and senior officers of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
