The Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) held its Colours Night - 2025 ceremony on 28 May 2025 at the Grand Maitland, Colombo. Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event aimed to recognise and commend the exceptional achievements of SLE sportsmen across various sports disciplines.
A total of 142 SLE sportsmen, representing 22 sports events, were awarded Colours in recognition of their outstanding performances. These individuals, who excelled at international, national, Defence Services and Inter-Regiment sporting events from 2024 to 2025, were honoured for bringing pride and admiration to the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, the Sri Lanka Army, and the nation.
Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of SLE, along with senior officers, warmly welcomed the Army Chief upon his arrival.
The proceedings commenced with the screening of a video documentary highlighting the proud history, expansion, and progression of the Regiment, followed by a brief introduction of the sportsmen to be awarded.
Thereafter, the Commander of the Army, the Colonel Commandant, and senior SLE Officers presented the Colours to the distinguished sportsmen.
Afterwards, the Colonel Commandant presented a memento to the Commander of the Army, a gesture that was gratefully reciprocated. Additionally, the Army Chief presented a cash incentive to further support and enhance sports development within the Regiment.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Brigadier F. Joseph USP, the Centre Commandant of SLE, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the occasion. The evening drew to a close with all attendees standing for the National Anthem.
