Colombo, Sri Lanka, Sept. 30 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
A Sri Lanka Army contingent comprising 20 Officers and 55 Other Ranks successfully completed the joint military exercise "Wolverine Path II - 2026" with their Russian counterparts from 22 to 27 September 2026 at the 249th "Sergeyevsky" Combined Arms Training School in Primorsky Krai, Russia.
The exercise focused on enhancing operational readiness, tactical proficiency and interoperability, with Sri Lankan and Russian troops participating in a series of joint training activities covering counter-insurgency operations, tactical shooting, offensive and defensive operations, tactical medicine and the employment of unmanned aerial systems.
The training programme provided an opportunity for the participating troops to exchange operational experiences and training methodologies while developing their ability to operate together in diverse tactical scenarios. Sri Lankan troops also gained practical experience in the handling and firing of Russian AK-12 assault rifles.
