SRI LANKAN DEFENCE SECRETARY HOLDS BILATERAL MEETINGS WITH REGIONAL SECURITY LEADERS DURING 5TH BIMSTEC NATIONAL SECURITY CHIEFS' MEETING

Colombo, Sri Lanka, July 17 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:

Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd.) held a series of bilateral meetings with regional security leaders on the sidelines of the 5th BIMSTEC National Security Chiefs' Meeting in New Delhi, India.

During the visit, Defence Secretary Thuyacontha met separately with H.E. U Tin Aung San, National Security Adviser and Union Minister for the Ministry of the President's Office of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Mr. Chatchai Bangchaud, Secretary General of the National Security Council of Thailand and Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A.K.M. Shamsul Islam, Defence Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing regional security cooperation.
