Colombo, Sri Lanka, July 23 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America in Sri Lanka, Ms. Jayne Howell, paid a farewell call on the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), today (23 July) at the Deputy Minister's office in Colombo.
During the cordial meeting, the Deputy Minister and the Ms. Howell exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on the longstanding bilateral relations and defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United States.
The Deputy Minister appreciated Ms. Howell's contribution towards further strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation during her tenure in Sri Lanka and conveyed his best wishes for her future endeavours.
Ms. Howell expressed her appreciation for the cooperation and support extended to her during her tenure and reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement and close relations between the two countries.
Defence Attache of the US Embassy Colonel Matthew House was also present at the occasion.
